Unnati Hooda won the Odisha Open 2022 BWF tournament by beating her opposition Smit Toshniwal in straight games to claim the women’s singles title.

Unnati surprisingly defeated senior player Malvika Bansod in the semi-finals, which automatically brings her into the lime-lights as Malvika Bansod is a top-notch player who had previously defeated legend players like Saina Nehwal.

Unnati in an interview shared what she was thinking before her match against Malvika Bansod, she stated “Match se Pehle Maine Sirf yeh Socha tha ki mujhe apna best Dena hai. I wasn’t thinking of defeating my opponent, I was only focused upon delivering my best.”

Unnati Hooda’s current world rank in women’s singles is 217 while it is 185 in the doubles. She shared in an interview that she aims on entering the top 150 by the end of this year. Her father is Upkar Hooda.

Unnati Hooda trains under Coach Parvesh Kumar. Unnati’s coach even feels that her achievement has added more shine and more pride to Haryana’s image of being the sports state of the country, as this state has already given India star athletes. Coach Parvesh Kumar in an interview “Unnati’s achievement in the Odisha Open 2022 has proved that Haryana is not only popular for churning out champions in power sports like kabaddi and wrestling, but also a budding place for champions of racket sports.”

He also mentions that Unnati is a very determined kid, who trains every day, be it bad weather or any festival, she never misses out on training. He further mentioned that she is never overwhelmed by her wins and keeps on working hard.

Coach continues by saying that Unnati though has trained under good facilities of Rohtak but her opponents have been trained with great facilities of big cities like Hyderabad. But due to her passion for the game, this gap has never been visible.

On asking the coach if Unnati had a special diet or not coach fully denied her being on a diet and said that milk, curd, choorma, and other homemade food are a part of her daily meal.

Unnati, in one of her interviews, mentioned that she idolizes PV Sindhu just like her, she wants to win medals for the country at the international level one day.

On asking the young talent about her life, if she misses out on living a normal life for rigorous training, she said that she is living an absolute balanced life, she trains in the morning and goes to school, she again trains in the evening, she has friends, Unnati emphasized on her perfectly living her teenage days.
