Recap of Chapter 67
Maxi recruits a housekeeper with local knowledge to accompany her on her sightseeing adventure. She runs to the practice field to notify Agnes. At the same time, Riftan and Agnes are testing their sword skills in a duel on the practice field. Agnes readily accepts Riftan’s victory after a brief duel because she knows she is still no match for his skill.
Agnes accepts Riftan’s compliment that she has improved since their last battle. Maxi’s first impressions of the training grounds are not positive. When Agnes spots Maxi, the two of them exchange pleasantries. Agnes requests that Maxi address her by her given name rather than her title.
The conversation continues with Agnes informing Maxi that she is eager to depart immediately in order to explore the city. Maxi assures her that she has already instructed the servants to load the vehicle. After a while, Agnes and Maxi head into town. Agnes notices that the town has expanded, both in terms of population and the number of large structures it now boasts.
The waitress maintains that Agnes should tell them what’s going on so they can stop worrying that she’ll start drinking again. Maxi’s surprise at Agnes’s Tavern attendance is understandable. Agnes orders her staff to be silent because she will never do anything to anger Maxi and so will not be partaking in any alcoholic beverages.
