UFC Vegas 61 Full Fight Card Winner And Results
At the start of the first round, there was a lot of trading of punches & kicks, which trend continued throughout the round. Similarly, second round began with a few striking exchanges before Dern sold out for Yan’s legs and moved across the mat to get her down so she could attempt submissions. The third round got off to a strong start for Yan, but Dern locked an arm and pulled her into guard, stopping her momentum.
In the fourth round, Dern successfully defended herself against a takedown attempt before attempting an armbar, which wasn’t enough due to lack of time left on clock. Just 30 seconds into the last round, Dern launched an aggressive attack that forced Yan to the ground and put her under serious trouble with plenty of time left on clock after receiving armbar threats combined with punches from full mount. However, Yan managed to evade Dern’s attempted armbar, and the two battled it out on the ground until the final bell.
A majority decision victory over Mackenzie Dern in Saturday’s strawweight main fight was achieved by the 33-year-old Chinese contestant thanks to this effort. Dern nearly managed to snatch a draw due to her superior last round performance but Xiaonan evaded some shots, which convinced two judges to give total score of 48-47 in Yan’s favor while one scored the bout 47-47.

UFC Vegas 61 Bonus Prizes and Fight of the Night
Ironically, this weekend’s UFC Vegas 61 main card was overshadowed by the outstanding prelims performances. The fighters on the prelims programme naturally received all of the bonuses from the Vegas 61 card, which was unsurprising given that all but one of the bouts on the preliminary night had fantastic finishes.
Daniel Santos and John Castaneda’s 140-pound catchweight fight won the highly-coveted Fight of the Night award. The Brazilian defeated Castaneda in the contest through KO in the second round but each fighter received a bonus of $50,000. Guido Canetti, Chelsea Chandler, Brendan Allen, and Joaquim Silva all received $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses for their efforts.
