UFC on ESPN 44 full fight card winner and results
It didn’t take Holloway long to start firing off consecutive shots while using his volume striking technique to deliver punches. Early in the first round, Allen responded with a powerful left hook, but Holloway shrugged it off and just kept retaliating. Holloway simply kept inflicting more harm, especially with his ability to throw, land his blows, and then get out of the way before Allen could adequately retaliate. Allen’s coaches pushed him to go for a finish with five minutes left instead of letting the fight go to the scorecards, so he was pursuing Holloway with every tool at his disposal.
After a 25-minute brawl, Holloway was more than happy to trade punches with Allen, including the last exchange in which he briefly knocked Allen to the ground. Holloway defeats another prospective featherweight contender with the victory as he eagerly anticipates the forthcoming title match between Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez later this year. Allen was naturally disappointed in his defeat, but after the fight, he was all praise for Holloway.
