UFC on ABC Full Fight Card Winner And Results

Yair Rodriguez: $211,000 ($100,000 to show, $100,000 win bonus, $11,000 fight week incentive pay)

Li Jingliang: $198,000 ($66,000 to show, $66,000 win bonus, $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus, $16,000 fight week incentive pay)

Although Yair Rodriguez left UFC Long Island with a victory, it is undoubtedly not how he had hoped. After Brian Ortega dislocated his shoulder in the first round of his fight with Rodriguez, ending the main event, the UFC’s most recent trip to New York had a lackluster conclusion. After a few exchanges on the feet, Ortega switched to his grappling, with Rodriguez attempting to escape by applying a submission move of himself.

The moment Ortega ripped his arm free of Rodriguez’s guard, the two-time UFC championship candidate collapsed to his back in excruciating pain rather than improving his position. Replays revealed Ortega’s shoulder dislocating as he wrenched his arm free, thereby ending the match. The fight was officially stopped at 4:11 into the first round, and Rodriguez was deemed the winner via TKO as a result of Ortega’s injury.

Rodriguez looked quick and dangerous with his hands prior to the stoppage, stinging Ortega with a number of hard shots as the featherweights traded feet-based blows. The featherweights eventually jostled for position against the cage as Ortega paused the action by trying for the takedown.
Once Ortega managed to get down, he attempted to use his Brazilian jiu-jitsu to turn the tables on Rodriguez. However, that’s when the injury occurred, which led to the fight’s premature conclusion.
