The Hall of Fame honours competitors, contests, and contributions (those who don’t compete in fighting). The UFC, PRIDE, the WEC, and Strikeforce are just a few of the promotions that provide representation. In 2003, at the opening ceremony, Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie were honoured. Shamrock was one of the original competitors in a UFC cage.

For the induction ceremony, International Fight Week in July has developed into a custom. The UFC Hall of Fame ceremony this year will take place on July 6 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It will be broadcast on UFC FIGHT PASS and serves as the prelude to UFC 290 on July 8.

Who is in the UFC Hall of Fame Class of 2023?

Anderson Silva

Anderson Silva, one of the greatest combat sports competitors of all time, will join the UFC’s Pioneers Wing. “The Spider” holds numerous records, including:

  • Longest win streak (16)
  • Longest finish streak (8) in modern UFC history
  • Longest title reign (2,457 days) in UFC history
  • Most successful title defenses (10) in UFC middleweight history

Jose Aldo

Jose Aldo, a member of the Modern Wing, was the first person named as an inductee for the 2023 UFC Hall of Fame.

The Brazilian entered multiple jiu-jitsu competitions and become professional in 2004. Aldo established himself in the WEC and defeated Mike Brown in 2009 to claim the featherweight championship. He defeated Manny Gamburyan to become the category’s first featherweight champion when the UFC acquired the division. From there, he embarked on a remarkable run during which he set a UFC record by successfully defending the belt seven times.

Conor McGregor ended Aldo’s 18-fight winning streak, but he refused to let that define his career. The 36-year-old went on to compete against some of the best UFC has to offer for the featherweight and bantamweight championships.

Donald Cerrone

Cerrone has the most victories (29) in Zuffa, LLA (UFC, PRIDE, WEC, Strikeforce) history and the most knockdowns (20) in UFC history despite not having won a UFC championship. In the history of the UFC, he is tied for second with 23 victories.

Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald II (UFC 189, 2015)

Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald put everything on the line in one of the most brutal battles in UFC history to win the welterweight championship. The fifth-round finish of the fight will always be remembered as one of the greatest in UFC history. The week that Lawler competes in his final match at UFC 290 will be memorable for him.
