The professional wrestler passed away at the age of 45.

The tragic news of the former heavyweight champion’s demise was confirmed by UFC in an announcement.

The American professional wrestler left the MMA community saddened and heartbroken especially considering that’s it’s annual holiday.

The UFC took to their official Twitter handle and penned down “The UFC family is saddened by the passing of UFC Hall of Famer Stephan Bonnar. We send our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.”

Followed by it, in an earlier announcement the president of UFC, Dana White, stated that Stephen was an integral part of the promotion’s success.

In a statement, White said, “Stephan Bonnar was one of the most important fighters to ever compete in the octagon.”

For those who are unversed, let us tell you, the former UFC light heavyweight champion has been struggling with health issues for a year now.

Earlier, in 2021, the Veteran UFC player went through a severe Staph infection. The legend revealed earlier that the doctors had found infected abscesses on both sides of a fractured vertebrae.

As per reports, the player suffered injuries during his professional wrestling matches. The legend had broken his back and wrist while performing a professional stunt.

Earlier in an interview with MMA fighting, Bonnar stated “I knew something wasnโ€™t right,” before saying “I knew this shouldnโ€™t be getting this much worse. I feel 10 times worse and itโ€™s been 10 days later. So yeah, I really wish it didnโ€™t come to that.”

During his stay at the hospital, Stephan had lost more than 36 pounds and he was even unable to walk without assistance.ย Bonnar, UFC Hall of Famer, died Thursday, December 22 of presumed heart complications while at work, according to the UFC.

The legend even decided to quit his passion of Pro wrestling after having a near-death experience and was stuck to a steady job in medical equipment sales.

His MMA record stood at 15 wins and 9 defeats. The legend married his long-time Lady-Love Andrea back in October, 2009 and the couple shared a son, Griffin Brandon. His net worth stood at $500,000 while his height was 1.9m.
