UFC Fight Night 228 full fight card winner and results
Initially, the fight between these two top-tier lightweights was a fierce battle, filled with excitement. The turning point occurred when Fiziev unleashed a powerful kick with his right leg, which Gamrot skillfully blocked. However, Fiziev’s agony was evident as he crumpled to the canvas before he could set his foot down. Gamrot wasted no time in following him to the mat and landed some punches, prompting referee Herb Dean to swiftly halt the contest. Upon reviewing the footage, it became apparent that Fiziev’s left leg shifted or popped as he planted it to execute the kick, leading to the unfortunate injury that prematurely ended his evening. The official stoppage occurred at the 2:03 mark of the second round.
Prior to this injury, Gamrot and Fiziev delivered an exhilarating performance. In the opening round, they both had their moments, engaging in striking exchanges and grappling scrambles. The pace was intense right from the start, with Fiziev unleashing rapid, powerful strikes and kicks from a distance, while Gamrot managed to connect with some solid punches during their stand-up exchanges. It wasn’t until the second round that Gamrot successfully executed a takedown, but Fiziev promptly scrambled free and returned to his feet. Unfortunately, it was during this sequence that Fiziev set up the ill-fated kick that brought an unexpected end to the fight.
