As the latest edition of UFC Fight Night got underway in Las Vegas, one showdown which was ardently awaited was the lightweight main event between Anthony Smith and Ryan Spann. And the headlining fight delivered as well with both the UFC fighters enthralling us with their grit, gallantry and pluck.
The first round saw both come hot out of the blocks to allude towards what was going to be in store for us on the day. Despite being pounded by Spann in the opening exchanges as he was tossed across the Octagon, Smith refused to be fazed with him recovering quickly.
Despite being in an armbar, Spann managed to break free as he landed a lethal knee to Smith. However, from there on it was all Smith who clobbered Spann with manifold strikes before going onto secure a rear naked choke, one which saw him win via submission at 3:47.
