UFC 280 Full Fight Card Winner And Results
Saturday night’s main event at UFC 280: Oliveira vs. Makhachev ended with win for Islam Makhachev, who defeated Charles Oliveira with ease to win the vacant lightweight championship. After knocking Charles Oliveira to the ground, Makhachev finished the UFC 280 main event in commanding style by securing a devastating arm-triangle choke.
At 3:16 in the second round, Makhachev received a massive hug from his coach and longtime teammate Khabib Nurmagomedov as he began his celebration after Oliveira’s tap. The all-time leader in UFC submissions Oliveira tapped down in a matter of seconds after Russian wrestler Makhachev applied his arm-triangle choke. Meanwhile, Aljamain Sterling won by TKO and kept his championship in the other title fight of the evening by taking advantage of a helpless TJ Dillashaw.
Following Makhachev’s victory, featherweight division champion Alexander Volkanovski was invited inside cage for discussion of a champion-versus-champion matchup. In response, Volkanovski entered the cage quickly and briefly exchanged words with Makhachev in what seems to be simple matchmaking for the just revealed UFC 284 event in Perth, Australia.
