Currently, Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert are the two favourites to win the elite men’s race. Some of the other top contenders are Laurens Sweeck (Crelan-Fristads), Eli Iserbyt (Bingoal-Pauwels Sauzen) and his Michael Vanthourenhout.

Sadly this year, the defending champion Marianne Vos (Jumbo-Visma) will not be participating in the 2023 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships following an injury. However, a slew of other top female contenders will feature in the race.
Among them, the top contenders are World Cup winner Fem van Empel (Jumbo-Visma), 2021 champion Lucinda Brand (Trek-Segafredo), Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Deceuninck), and outsider Denise Betsema (Bingoal-Pauwels Sauzen).
