Earlier Fury was to fight Anthony Joshua but somehow the deal could not be secured which resulted in the fight collapsing. The undefeated Fury momentarily retired after knocking out mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte in six rounds in April, but speculation of a comeback erupted almost immediately, with Fury eyeing a mega-fight with Anthony Joshua before they were unable to strike an agreement in a reasonable period.

Before their teams got involved, Fury and Joshua exchanged words via social media in an attempt to set up a fight, although ineffectively. The two have a history of verbal sparring, and the Gypsy King claimed that Joshua’s staff held the contracts and that he had failed to sign them by the deadline. Fury is now focusing on Chisora, with whom he will battle to finish a trilogy.

The fight was originally scheduled to to take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff Wales but promoter Frank Warren says the event may take place at another arena or stadium in the country now. Ring-walks will get underway from 10pm UK time. The bout has yet to be confirmed, so there is no TV channel yet but Fury’s last eight fights have be shown live on BT Sport, with his last three all being shown as a pay-per-view event.

The 38-year-old boxer known as Del Boy last competed in July, defeating Kubrat Pulev by a split decision. It had been suggested that he fight Derek Chisora, but given that they had already fought twice, with Fury easily winning both times, it appeared to be little more than a joke. If this fight takes place, Tyson Fury will undoubtedly be the big favourite to win for the third time.
