One of the police officers who has been charged with Nichols’ murder has a wife who may have had an affair with Tyre Nichols, according to rumours

Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Desmond Mills Jr., Emmitt Martin III, and Justin Smith make up the squad responsible for the death of Tyre.

After pulling Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man, over for a traffic violation, five policemen from the Memphis Police Department brutally assaulted him.

Most Americans are outraged by Nichols’s senseless death, which has racial overtones, but some are spreading a story that Nichols may have been romantically engaged with the wife of one of the police officers who has been detained in connection with his death.

Each of these individuals formerly served with the now-defunct Scorpion special team, which was formed in October 2021 to investigate serious crimes. They were terminated the previous week and arrested the following Thursday. Every one of them is being accused with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct, and official oppression.

The internet was rife with speculation that he was sexually involved with one of the alleged killer’s wives, despite the fact that no official explanation has been offered for the cops’ behaviour.

Policing failure in US is on rise

Researchers and reformers in the field of policing estimate that, on average, three individuals have been killed by police every day across the country since the year 2020.

The tragic interaction of Tyre Nichols with Memphis, Tennessee police, captured on film and released on Friday night, is a stark reminder that efforts to improve policing have failed to avoid additional flashpoints in an intractable epidemic of brutality.

The brutal beating of Rodney King by Los Angeles police nearly 32 years ago triggered calls for reform. Since then, incidents like the ones that led to the killings of Amadou Diallo in New York, Oscar Grant in Oakland, California, Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and others have occurred with regularity.

The murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis in 2020 was so bad to witness that it prompted a national reckoning, with federal legislation filed in his name and corporate and sports league displays of sympathy. All of these initiatives fell short of what was needed to create the kind of change in law enforcement culture that Black people in America have advocated for.
