Who Is Tyler Skaggs?
Tyler Skaggs was a well-known American professional baseball player who died in 2019. He has been in the news because the former employee of his team, Eric Kay, who gave him an overdose of drugs, has been charged for the same.
His full name was Tyler Wayne Skaggs. On July 13, 1991, he was born in Woodland Hills, California. His mother Debbie was a longtime head softball coach, and his father Darnell was a shortstop for the high school baseball team. Dan Ramos, his stepfather, was a baseball player in college.
He played football, basketball, and baseball while he was a student at Santa Monica High School. He exercised at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, during the off-season.
In 2018, he married Carli Miles, his girlfriend. He doesn’t have children.
He died on July 1, 2019, in Southlake, Texas, U.S. He was just 27 years old when he died and his height stood at 1.96m.
His Career
In the 2009 Major League Baseball draft, the Angels selected Tyler Skaggs in the first round as a supplementary pick. He advanced through Arizona’s minor system before being sent to the Diamondbacks the following season as part of a deal involving pitcher Dan Haren.
He made his major league debut on August 22, 2012, against the Miami Marlins, following two consecutive appearances in the All-Star Futures Game in 2011 and 2012. He stayed with the Diamondbacks through the end of the 2012 campaign, but in 2013 he was sent to the minor levels.
Tyler Skaggs was returned to the Angels by the Diamondbacks in a December 2013 trade, and he was the team’s fifth starting pitcher until his season ended on July 31, 2014.
Although he had intended to start pitching in the minor levels by the conclusion of the 2015 campaign, he did not begin working out again until the start of the 2016 campaign and made his comeback to Angel’s mound in July.
Despite playing a significant role in the Angels’ rotation from 2017 to 2019, he continues to miss significant amounts of each season due to injuries. He has a 4.41 career earned run average (ERA), 476 strikeouts, and a win-loss record of 28-38 until the end of June 2019.
Death Cause Of Tyler Skaggs
Tyler Skaggs was discovered dead in his hotel room in Southlake, Texas, on June 30, 2019. He aspirated his own vomit and died of suffocation, according to an autopsy.
The main cause of his death, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration, was fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that was thirty to fifty times stronger than heroin.
