Two Swimmers Based Out Of Russia Banned From The Tokyo Olympics For Violating Doping Rules

Two swimmers set to contest under the Russia association flag were banned provisionally from the Tokyo Olympics for violating doping rules

This suspension was announced by FINA after WADA carried out an investigation.

Doping has always gone hand in hand with the Olympics. Alexandr Kudashev and Veronika Andrusenko; Russian swimmers suspended for violating doping rules by FINA on Wednesday. Tokyo Olympics is on the verge of beginning, only 9 days are left for the opening ceremony. Both Alexandr and Veronika were quite close to the Olympics, getting suspended provisionally at this point in time has shattered them. FINA has suspended them for allegations related to the violation of doping rules.

Russia Swimmers Banned Provisionally From Tokyo Olympics 2020

Alexandr Kudashev and Veronika Andrusenko; Russian swimmers suspended provisionally by FINA. Their new doping tests were not positive but still, there are allegations that both these swimmers are involved in the abuse of performance-enhancing drugs. New evidence was found by the World Anti-Doping Agency in regard to the same, this evidence was enough to provisionally suspend them.

The investigation is still going on according to the press release. Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory is also working hard to bring out a clear picture in front of the world. This is not the first time that Russian have faced a ban because of doping practices. Back in the year 2016 during the Rio Olympics, 7 aquatic athletes from Russia were pulled off by the Olympic Association because of doping practices.

Post this suspension the president of FINA, thanked World Anti-Doping Agency to make Tokyo Olympics 2020 doping-free. In the year 2019, Russia has imposed a 4-year ban from all international sports events. This ban was imposed by WADA when they founded Russian authorities manipulating data. Later on, after filing petitions, the 4-year ban was reduced to 2 years. Russia has always been troubled with a lot of doping complications because of their Olympics athletes.

Both swimmers from Russia are banned because of taking the banned substance Meldonium. Earlier on 3rd July 2021, sprinter Sha’ Carri Richardson from America was banned from the Olympics because of doping violations. This American sprinter was imposed with a one-month-long ban because of intaking Marijuana.
