The news that a sequel to the horror movie is in the works and Tumbbad 2 will be releasing soon has thrilled fans who want to know its release date
On September 14, 2024, Sohum Shah, the actor and producer of the highly regarded movie Tumbbad, formally revealed the release date of the mythological horror film’s sequel.
On his Twitter account, Shah posted a trailer for Tumbbad 2 with the caption, “Pralay Aaega,” which translates to “dissolution will come.” Confirmation of Tumbbad 2 coincided with the original film’s theatrical re-release on September 13. At the conclusion of the movie, Tumbbad II with the caption “Coming Soon” was shown on screen.

The producer also said that Pandurang, Vinayak Rao’s son from Tumbbad, will play a part in Tumbbad 2, which will carry on from the first instalment and explore the idea of immortality. Due to its tone and performances, it turned into a cult favourite after initially being a box office failure.
There have been multiple claims that Sohum Shah had stated that he wanted to make sure the Tumbbad 2 script was well-developed before proceeding. The screenplay appears to be finished, and production will soon get underway. Shah has also stated that he wants Tumbbad to become a franchise.

Tumbbad’s rerelease has been a huge hit, doing better at the box office than when it was first released. A report claims that the movie made INR 1.50 crore on its first day of release, which is three times its earnings from its 2018 release.
Tumbbad 2 cast and crew
Although we don’t yet know anything about the sequel and its release date, the teaser suggests that Pandurang, played by Muhammad Samad, will return. The voiceover of Vinayak Rao, performed by Sohum Shah, is audible, indicating to the audience that the actor would also be included in the sequel.
It remains to be seen, though, how these characters develop. Since Sohum Shah acknowledged Adesh Prasad, the writer and co-director of Tumbbad, as well as producers Ankit Jain, Amita Shah, and Mukesh Shah, during the release of the teaser for Part 2 of the movie, it is safe to assume that they will be involved in the series.
