Transfer Deadline Day 2023: Complete List of Premier League Done Deals

A hectic summer transfer season appears to be coming to a conclusion with Liverpool rejecting a massive £150 million proposal from Saudi Arabia club Al-Ittihad for Salah

Saudi teams have already made a splash this summer, luring the likes of Karim Benzema, Neymar, and Riyad Mahrez to the Middle East, and now they want Salah’s signature. Luckily for all of the Premier League fans, Liverpool has rejected their attempts to sign him in the very last days of this summer’s transfer window.

Even though the Saudi transfer window will be open for another week, the transfer window has been closed for the top 5 European leagues, and so was for the English Premier League. As per usual, the Blues have been the team with the most signings, but it remains to be seen if it is for good results or just to break Liverpool’s plans. They even won the race for the biggest deal, signing Moises Caeda for a dizzying English record, £115m from Brighton. In the rest of the article we have provided an insight into a complete list of Premier League transfers on this big day, and analyzed their potential effects on teams.

Deadline Day Done Deals

Manchester City, the reigning champion, strengthened their midfield by adding Portuguese international Matheus Nunes from Wolves in a £53 million deal. Nunes is City’s fourth significant summer signing, joining Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, and Jeremy Doku.

The Etihad has also seen a number of departures, the most notable of which being Palmer’s transfer to Chelsea. Tommy Doyle has joined Wolves to fill the void left by Nunes, while England U21 captain Taylor Harwood-Bellis has joined Southampton on loan with the possibility of a permanent move if the Saints win promotion.

Manchester United has also been active, adding Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce to their goalkeeper lineup,  after Dean Henderson completed a £20 million transfer to Crystal Palace just a day before the deadline. They have also signed Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon on loan, given that Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, will both be out for the foreseeable future, and Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Brighton has made one of the more notable signings of the transfer window, securing highly-rated Barcelona winger Ansu Fati on a loan for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, Tottenham has finalized the acquisition of Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest. Conor Gallagher, a target for Ange Postecoglou, has opted to stay at Chelsea.

Whether it is from the sports fans, sports professionals, or professional gamblers, many questions are being raised now that transfers are completed, and when we know that nothing can be changed until the next one in  January 2024;  so let’s see which are the most significant.

Will “The Salah” Saga Continue?

Liverpool made it obvious that Salah was not for sale by rejecting a bid from Al-Ittihad that might have earned them £150 million – but the case may not be considered closed in Saudi Arabia. With the Saudi transfer window not closing until September 7th, there was instant speculation that Al-Ittihad would return with a bid closer to £200m in an attempt to make Liverpool blink. Although Salah has chosen to keep mute, his representative has stated that Salah has no intention of leaving the club, or else he would not have renewed his contract last summer.

Will Klopp’s Midfield “Makeover” Be Successful?

After last season’s poor campaign, Liverpool manager Klopp admitted that his team’s engines needed a reset, but the process was made easier by the Saudi bid for captain Henderson and Fabinho. The first to join the team were Brighton’s Alexis MacAllister and Hungarian Dominik Szoboszlai. Klopp was eager to complete a major renovation, and the final piece was Bayern Munich’s 21-year-old Dutch international Ryan Gravenberch, who joined on deadline day for a fee of £34 million. In a perfect world, Liverpool would have signed another central defender, but at first glance, the midfield re-configuring seems good and how would it, it was Klopp himself to “designed” it.

Manchester United: Have They Done Enough?

Manchester United has made some major changes in their team for this season, and these include new signings such as Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund. The club manager, Erik ten Hag has expressed his satisfaction with how the team looks, but football fans do not share the enthusiasm, especially after the first few rounds. However, they do have a quality team when “put on the paper” so the future might still be bright for them.

Given that the previous season was long, the break was brief, and numerous changes occurred, it is still too early to make any assumptions. All we have to do now is watch the games and wait for answers to our queries.
