Wilson fired runs of 130, 103, 115, & 100 in the first session to lead by 6-2, and the 31-year-old sped to an 8-2 lead during the evening session with 107 & 118. Ding attempted a comeback with a 113, but in frame 12 Wilson produced 81 before under-hitting a red from a tight angle to the center pocket for making it 9-3.
Around the 13th frame, the Englishman had a scoring opportunity but missed the green with a 33, and Ding retaliated with an 84 to make the score 9-4. With a break of 66, the Chinese ace made another comeback, but when he missed a tricky red early in frame 15, it turned out to be his final opportunity. Thanks to his break of 87 in this frame, Wilson clinched the result and secured his berth in Sunday’s championship match. Wilson is scheduled to clash against the winner of the second semi-final featuring Mark Selby vs. Shaun Murphy on Saturday.

According to estimates, the winner of the Tour Championship will get a payout of £150,000 from the $380,000 total prize pool. Instead of the customary £40,000 for each semifinal loser, the second-place finisher will receive £60,000 instead. Ding Junhui will take home £40,000 in prize money after losing in the semifinal against Kyren Wilson.
