With a 147 in the first session, Day had a beautiful moment, but Selby otherwise dominated and led 6-2. Selby increased his advantage to 8-2 at the start of the evening session with breaks of 131 & 67. Day drew one back before winning a safety fight on the yellow in frame 12 and completing a superb clearance to close within 8-4.
Although Day came close to making it 8-6, his error allowed Selby to extend his lead and make it 9-5 in his favor. Day restored his momentum with a remarkable 16-red clearance, totaling 139, and he controlled the 16th for a score of 9-7. However, Selby managed 77-break in the following game to secure the victory.
Following these results, it is confirmed that Ding Junhui will face-off against Kyren Wilson in the first semi-final of Tour Championship on Friday before Mark Selby clashes against Shaun Murphy in the second semi-final on Saturday.
