After a 4-4 tie in the afternoon session, Murphy won the first two frames of the evening session with breaks of 71 & 100. Although Selby responded with 99 & 75 to tie the score at 6-6, Murphy immediately bagged the 13th frame to make it 7-6. Selby missed a tricky pot on the final yellow along the baulk cushion on 45 in the 14th, giving his opponent the opportunity for 8-6. Murphy’s stellar run continued as he moved within one frame of win by bagging the 15th frame.
Despite his three-frame deficit, Selby held his nerve and responded with breaks of 81, 78, & 106 to restore parity at 9-9, However, Selby was heartbroken as Murphy managed to bag the decisive frame and qualify for the championship match on Sunday. Following this result, it is confirmed that Murphy will clash against Kyren Wilson with the title at stake.
