Faf du Plessis of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) hit the longest six of the IPL 2023 season so far against Lucknow Super Giants in the tournament’s 15th match.

Du Plessis smacked LSG spinner Ravi Bishnoi for a 115-meter six that sailed miles over mid-wicket and out of the stadium for the season’s longest six. He surpassed CSK all-rounder Shivam Dube’s 102-meter strike to record the IPL 2023’s longest six.

The South African matched former CSK captain MS Dhoni’s 115-meter six, the 10th longest in IPL history. The following are the top five.

5 Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh and Ross Taylor

Three players are tied for fifth place in IPL history for the longest sixes. All three are famous white-ball cricketers who haunted bowlers during their careers. In the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008, Ross Taylor hit a 119-meter six. Taylor smashed a huge six against compatriot Jacob Oram while batting for RCB against CSK.

Yuvraj Singh repeated the feat the following season, this time against CSK pacer Albie Morkel.In 2013, Chris Gayle joined Yuvraj Singh and Ross Taylor in hitting 119 meters. During his belligerent 175* against the Pune Warriors, he struck left-arm spinner Ali Mortaza.

4 Robin Uthappa

During his time with RCB, Robin Uthappa accomplished the feat. Uthappa scored 23 off 15 balls while chasing 152 against Mumbai Indians in the 2010 IPL.

In the 13th over of the RCB innings, Uthappa smashed Dwayne Bravo for a monster six (120 meters). As the ball flew right over the concrete roof of the Brabourne Stadium, Uthappa shuffled across the off-stump and thwacked a full-length delivery by Bravo miles over wide long-on.

3 Adam Gilchrist

During an IPL match against RCB in 2011, the former Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) captain hit a 122-meter six.Gilchrist smashed 106 runs off 55 balls in Dharamshala, hitting eight boundaries and nine sixes while maintaining a strike rate of 192.72.The highest maximum of the day was hit by RCB fast bowler Charl Langeveldt. Gilchrist dispatched the ball out of Dharamshala for a 122-meter six after the South African attempted a slower ball. Off Langeveldt, Gilchrist smashed three sixes in a row.

2 Praveen Kumar

In the 2008 IPL, RCB were reduced to 78 for six against the Rajasthan Royals, and Praveen Kumar was promoted up the order in a pinch-hitting role. The gamble paid off, as the Indian speedster hit two fours and three sixes in a 30-ball 34-run inning.

Praveen Kumar smashed Royals part-timer Yusuf Pathan for a 124-meter six-ball. He smashed it with brute force over the long-on boundary, just missing the roof.

1 Albie Morkel

Albie Morkel clobbered left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha for a 125-meter six in IPL 2008 while playing for Chennai Super Kings against the now-defunct Deccan Chargers. Even after 15 seasons in the cash-rich league, Morkel’s feisty blow remains at the top of the charts.

As the ball sailed out of Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium, the South African went down on one knee and hammered it over mid-wicket.
