Across the last couple of years, India is fast gaining reputation as the land of some of the most opulent and resplendent pieces of architect. From housing the world’s tallest statue, the world’s highest rail bridge to the world’s largest tunnel, the country is reserving its name as a maverick of development.

World’s Biggest Cricket Stadium

Adding another jewel to its crown, the country now also has in its kitty the record of the world’s largest cricket stadium. Situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the Narendra Modi Stadium, previously known as the Motera Stadium has a sprawling capacity of 1,10,000 viewers.

The stadium was inaugurated by President Ramnath Kovind with Home Minister, Amit Shah also in attendance. Shah said during the inauguration that Ahmedabad has become a world class sports hub with infrastructure that can host any international sports event with a short notice.

He added that the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium at Motera, Sardar Patel Sports Enclave and another sports complex in Naranpura area of Ahmedabad will be the part of this sports infrastructure.

The construction of the expansive concourses lead to the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia, relinquishing its coveted spot atop of the pile. However, both the countries aren’t stranger to mammoth pieces of cricketing venues with both riddled with colossal stadiums.
