Hyderabad’s PV Sindhu will go on to face Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt on her road to enter the Tokyo Olympics Badminton quarterfinals. The match will take place on Thursday, 29th July, 2021 (6.15am IST). Mia Blichfeldt beat Bulgaria’s Linda Zetchiri 21-10, 21-3 in her last round of 16 match in Group I. The Danish Badminton star won the European Women’s Team Championships in 2020 and also clinched the gold at the 2019 Minsk European Games.

Mia enjoys a 1-4 win-loss record against PV Sindhu, with the two having squared off twice already this year. The only time Blichfeldt could beat Sindhu was during the Yonex Thailand Open when the latter was not in good shape. However, she exacted revenge soon after at the Swiss Open with a 22-20, 21-10 win.

Regardless of having the lead, Sindhu told the Badminton World Federation (BWF) how it won’t be easy playing with Mia. She needs to recover well and come back stronger. “I’ve played her a couple of times, every point is going to be important. She’s an aggressive player so I need to be aggressive as well,” she added.
