Recently the Chinese brand Li Ning was dropped out from the Tokyo Olympics 2021 plan of India. The reason behind this dropping is the tension between India and China
In a recent interview, the Sports Minister of India Kiren Rijiu talked about dropping Li Ning from the country’s Tokyo Olympics plan. Kiren Rijiu said that instead of Chinese apparels he would prefer his country to go unbranded for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
The Indian Olympic Association said that the search for the new sponsor is still in progress and soon they will figure it out. In less than a month the players will have to leave India for the Tokyo Olympics. So at this moment, the absence of Olympic kit sponsors has created a lot of chaos.
IOA Chief Narendra Batra Talks About Reason Behind Dropping Li Ning For The Tokyo Olympics 2021
The president of Indian Olympic Association Narindra Batra stated that definitely a new kit sponsor will be figured out. Many brands are ready with their proposals hope the best one gets the chance. National Olympic Committee is working hard to get India a new Olympic kit sponsor for Tokyo Olympics 2021.
If no sponsor will be finalized then this season of the Olympics will witness something quite different. The Indian players, staff and mentors will be wearing Olympic kits without any branding. Only India will be mentioned in broad font on the kits.
Also Batra added to his above statement saying that now the time left is quite short. Even if they get a new sponsor still the time for the preparations can be stressful for the brand. They donโt want any brand to work under stress on board for India. Mutually if any brand agrees to complete the desired outcome then they would be happy to join hands with them.
