As online users pop up with theories about what the woman saw, the saga has even garnered an unofficial title called the ‘plane lady’ drama.
And now, the ‘plane lady’ drama even has its own slang in ‘Tmfinr’. Find out the meaning behind the term below
Meaning and origin of ‘Tmfinr’ explained
Social media users, particularly Twitter users would have highly likely seen the now infamous ‘plane lady’ video at least once in the last week or some reactions to it. The short 30-second clip, which originally posted on TikTok has since gone viral across other social media platforms.
The video shows a lady passenger rushing to leave an aircraft when the aircraft lands while other passengers remain seated. The lady explains that she has seen a figure or a person at the back of the plane. She stats her belief that the figure will be responsible for every passenger “dying” if the other passengers do not follow her lead and leave the plane.
During the video, viewers will hear the unnamed woman repeatedly shouting, “That mother-f***** is not real” towards the supposed figure. Hence, this is where the slang acronym ‘Tmfinr’ comes from.
Tmfinr merch pops up online
Just like any other social media trend in 2023, people have sported unofficial merch depicting the plane lady alongside the word Tmfinr. While the identity of the plane lady remains a mystery, her image and catchphrase has become famous.
Nicole Dominique, who works as a writer and is a very popular figure on Twitter, currently leads the race to capitalize on the plane lady video. Nicole launched her own range of Tmfinr t-shirts, just after her drawing of the plane lady gathered over 11,000 likes on the site.
Meanwhile, a Twitter user with the handle ‘Alpha Fox’ gave an even darker meaning to the Tmfinr phrase. The users explains the phrase in relation to a number of conspiracy theories while also using the woman’s face on their merchandise. Although the claims are unclear and rather unlikely, the user claims that the lady from the plane video is actually receiving money from the people using her image.
Social media users grow concern over the ‘plane lady’
Aside from all the reactions and merchandises, some social media users are genuinely concerned over the ‘plane lady’. While theories about the lady going missing have been rubbished, many users are concerned about her current condition.
It is impossible to speculate whether or not the person in the video was facing a mental health crisis. However, many online users pointed out that, the lady was distressed, and that people on the internet should be more sympathetic.
One user tweeted:
I do not find it funny that a woman had a mental health episode on a plane, but that’s just me.”
While another person added:
That video of that woman screaming on the plane makes me so uncomfy idk maybe we shouldn’t film and post strangers”.
