The forward for Germany’s national team is expected to have his entire pay paid by Tottenham during his loan at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium till the end of the ongoing season. The 27-year-old, who can play as a winger or a striker, is paid £164,000 a week by RB Leipzig, according to sources.

Plettenberg has further stated that the deal will soon be finalized with the terms of the agreement between Tottenham and Leipzig. Werner has also been linked to Manchester United, but it appears that Tottenham is closing in on a deal for the forward.

Werner will eventually join Spurs

According to sources, it seems certain that Timo Werner will eventually join Tottenham Hotspur. Additionally, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, a loan agreement is almost finalized, with Tottenham having the option to extend it beyond the end of the current campaign.

Tottenham seems to be eager to finalize a deal as quickly as possible. Although some may wonder why Spurs would wish to sign a forward who didn’t have much of an impact at Chelsea, supporters of the team should be pleased by the club’s management’s speedy transfer activity.

Due to his involvement in the Asia Cup, club captain Heung-Min Son will be out of the lineup for at least a month for Ange Postecoglou’s team, and there are concerns that Alejo Veliz may have sustained a serious knee injury. Werner, who is contracted to RB Leipzig through the summer of 2026, has scored two goals in eight Bundesliga games this season.

Werner is already out of the Leipzig squad

Leipzig confirmed on their official social media platforms on Saturday that the Germany international was left out of their team for a friendly match against St. Gallen of the Swiss Super League while he is in negotiations with another club.

In 157 games during his first stint at Leipzig, Werner finished with 93 goals and 40 assists before joining Chelsea for £45 million in July 2020. Before returning to his former club in 2022, he scored just 10 goals in 56 Premier League appearances during his mostly dismal time at Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham is hoping that Werner can succeed in his second attempt at mastering Premier League football. He will undoubtedly feel that he still needs to visit England.
