The club confirmed the news and said;
“Timo Werner hurt his ankle last night during the victory over Shakhtar Donetsk, according to a club statement. According to tests performed today in Leipzig, he, unfortunately, tore the syndesmosis ligament in his left ankle and will thus miss the rest of 2022.
Timo Werner has been outstanding so far this season after joining from Chelsea in the summer, tallying nine goals and four assists in 16 games across all competitions for RB Leipzig. The Germans, who have had trouble scoring from the penalty spot for some time, have suffered a significant blow as a result of Werner’s injury. Now that Werner is out, Flick will almost certainly call up Niclas Fullkrug, the Bundesliga’s top scorer and a strong in-the-box attacker who plays as a natural No. 9.
