Tim Seifert Health Update, News, Delhi Capitals COVID Positive Players Cases In IPL 2022
Seifert tested positive for Covid-19 during a Rapid Antigen Test on Wednesday afternoon, and the remainder of the players slated to participate in the PBKS game went through testing again. The match played with players who have had their test results come back negative.
Statement From BCCI
According to a BCCI source quoted by PTI, the positive instance emerged following a new round of testing on Wednesday morning. “As far as we’re aware, Tim Seifert of New Zealand has tested positive,” says the statement.
DC Blown By Covid-19
Mitchell Marsh, an Australian all-rounder, was hospitalised last week after testing positive for COVID, bringing the total number of cases in the Capitals’ camp to five. The BCCI chose to transfer the game from Pune to Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium. They had to ensure that no other instance went unnoticed in the bio-bubble.
Last week, Delhi physio Patrick Farhart and sports massage therapist Chetan Kumar tested positive, then on Monday, Marsh, team doctor Abhijit Salvi, and social media content team member Akash Mane also tested positive.
BCCI Protocols And Rules For IPL 2022
Every member of an IPL squad in a team bubble has to go through a test every fifth day. This is as per the BCCI’s testing regulations. However, if the franchise wishes to test its members on its own, they are more than welcome to do so.
In the event of a COVID outbreak, the IPL requires a minimum of 12 players. It must include seven Indians, for the game to continue. If the minimum player requirement is not met, the game can also be rescheduled.
Will BCCI Again Postpone This Year?
Last season, Seifert acquired the infection while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders. BCCI canceled the IPL last season mid-way due to multiple cases involving four clubs. Later on it restarted in the UAE in September-October.
The viral danger inside the controlled environment has escalated as COVID cases have multiplied outside the IPL bio-bubble.
It remains to see if this year also it gets postponed!
