Tiger Woods managed to compete even though there was a very slim probability that he would win his sixth Masters, know his latest injury update
Tiger Woods was one of the underdogs going into the 2023 Masters in Augusta, Georgia. His advanced age and the countless wounds he has endured would be the main causes of this. One might consider Jon Rahm to be the tournament favourite.
However, it’s reasonable to say that he also put up a show. Tiger recently made his 23rd consecutive cut, tying Gary Player and Fred Couples for the record. Despite reaching this significant milestone, Tiger has since withdrawn from the competition, surprising the sports world.
Tiger Woods latest injury update today, status and return date news as he withdraws from The Masters 2023
Tiger explained his withdrawal in a message posted on Twitter. He wrote, “I am disappointed to have to WD this morning due to reaggravating my plantar fasciitis. Thank you to the fans and to [TheMasters] who have shown me so much love and support. Good luck to the players today!”
As a video went viral, fans at first worried about Tiger. It happened immediately after he recently made the famous cut. Woods, though, appeared to be clearly uncomfortable and had some difficulty moving without experiencing any pain. It appeared at first that he had hurt his right leg.
Although a lot of people thought it would be related to his horrific tragedy in Los Angeles in 2021, that is not the genuine explanation. Tiger experienced plantar fasciitis, a condition that results in tissue irritation in the joint that connects the bone’s heel to the toes. Tiger was unable to walk normally in the video due to this.
Due to the same issue, the five-time Masters champion was forced to withdraw from the Hero World Challenge in 2022. Tiger remarked that he had a choice between stretching and relaxing versus getting an injection or having surgery and the chose the first one. At the time, surgery was a viable option for the icon and would have been a long-term fix.
There is a probability that Tiger will think about having surgery now that he has aggravated the same issue once more. Given that, there’s a potential he could sustain the same injury once more, which would be bad news for his admirers. Woods, who has endured the whole range of injuries but still gives it his best on the course, appears to be approaching retirement.
