With poor performances in IPL 2021, many fans have started to raise concern over Ishaan Kishan in the 2021 World Cup T20 squad of Team India
Ishaan Kishan was named to the World T20 squad just before IPL 2021’s second leg. Ishaan Kishan has performed well for his franchise in previous years recently got a chance to play for the senior team, where he did play well. He was the captain of the Under-19 team of 2016, which lost to Bangladesh in the finals of the Under-19 World Cup. Kishan has earned a spot for himself.
Ishaan Kishan IPL 2021 Stats, Runs And Horrid Form For Mumbai Indians
He is a fearless left-handed batsman who is not in form since the beginning of the second leg of IPL 2021. In the Chennai leg, where the sluggish, heavy wickets rendered batting difficult, Kishan scored 28, 1, 12, 26, and 6. Kishan delivered two blows with a strike rate of less than 60, which is poor by T20 criteria.
In the UAE leg, nothing has changed much. The string of low scores continues. In 8 matches played by him this season, he only scored 107 runs. So far in the second half of the IPL 2021, Ishaan Kishan has only managed to achieve 11, 14, and 9 runs. In the IPL this year, his average is 13.37.
Keeping this form in mind, BCCI might replace him with someone in the state as changes in squads are allowed by ICC till 10th October.
T20 World Cup 2021 Team India Squad: Players that might replace Ishan Kishan
Shreyas Iyer
Due to injury, the player who dropped due to lack of game time as he was coming from an injury is in great form. Scoring 91 runs in just three matches, he played in this season of IPL. He has made selectors think about his selection. Iyer was India’s prime number 4 batsman in white-ball cricket before the injury, and he has proved his worth yet again. Iyer is a part of the reserve players in the World T20 squad right now.
Shikhar Dhawan
The reason BCCI gave as they dropped Dhawan from the squad was that Ishan could open the innings. Now that Ishaan has to be replaced, I don’t see why Dhawan is not the right pick. Dhawan is the current orange cap holder in IPL. Dhawan is one of India’s best white-ball specialist batsmen who also captained India in Sri Lanka in the ODI and T20I series.
Prithvi Shaw
Prithvi Shaw had scored 308 runs in eight games at an aggregate of 38.50 and a scoring rate of 166.48 just before the league was called off because of escalating Covid cases within the bio-bubble. He also demonstrated his intent in practically every game he played by creating a solid foundation for his team.
