Thomas Baskind is once again championing the cause of aiding individuals afflicted by life-changing injuries or diseases
He is participating in this year’s Cycle to the Sea Fundraiser, an annual event, with the aim of supporting the Adaptive Sports & Adventures Program (ASAP) at Carolinas Rehabilitation under the Atrium Health Foundation. He’s been an active supporter since 2013.
Having a personal connection to the cause, Tom Baskindโs dear friend Brian Muscarella, suffered a stroke which rendered him paralyzed from the chest down. It was at the Atrium Health Carolinas Rehabilitation center where Brian poured his energy into his recovery. Inspired by Brian’s determination, Thomas became an ardent participant, especially after witnessing Brian’s commitment to the 180-mile Cycle to the Sea journey spread across three days.
The Cycle To The Sea fundraiser will take place on October 19-21, 2023. The event, starting from Monroe, North Carolina at the Atrium Health Union, will end in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It will include the participation of a wide array of individuals โ volunteers, adapted bikers, the abled community, and ASAP’s administration, all joining hands to promote the cause.
The event has made significant strides since its establishment in 1999. Over the years, Cycle To The Sea has successfully aided competitive and leisure sports for the physically challenged.
Beyond cycling, the ASAP program also supports other sports like water skiing, rugby, kid triathlons, curling, tennis, and hand-cycling. The main aim is to involve volunteers, administrative staff, and physically challenged individuals in activities that pose a physical challenge, thereby fostering inclusivity.
As a non-profit, Carolinas Rehabilitation depends on fundraisers like ASAP to assist patients grappling with severe ailments and injuries. Tom Baskind is deeply committed to this noble cause.
