Juventus is set to offer a contract to Bologna manager Thiago Motta with his salary details now out

Reports indicate that Juventus are finalizing the departure of current head coach Massimiliano Allegri, paving the way to officially offer a contract to Bologna manager Thiago Motta.

With Allegri nearing his exit, the Serie A giants are prepared to present Thiago Motta with a two-year deal, including an option for an additional year.

Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli has identified Motta as the ideal candidate for the Bianconeri’s project. Multiple sources in Italy, confirm that the club is ready to extend a two-year contract to the former Italy international.

All aspects of Motta’s contract with Juventus have reportedly been agreed upon, with only the formal signing remaining.

The proposed terms include a two-year contract with an optional third year and a net salary of €3.5 million per year, excluding bonuses. Motta’s profile is considered a perfect fit for Juventus, prompting the club to pursue him. Allegri was meanwhile 9 million euros annually at Juventus.

Thiago Motta’s Current Contract at Bologna

Having led Bologna to a Champions League qualification this season, Motta’s current contract at Stadio Dall’Ara expires in June. To be specific, his contract is expected to be expire on Jun 30, 2024.

According to Italian media, Motta has not yet discussed a contract extension with Bologna’s directors but has indicated his willingness to move to Turin.

Motta is seen as an ideal candidate due to his playing style and his success in developing young talents.

Juventus have also shown interest in Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori and Joshua Zirkzee, and Motta’s appointment would likely strengthen their pursuit of these players.

Thiago Motta Santon Olivares, is a professional football manager and former player currently serving as the head coach of Serie A club Bologna. The 41-year-old manager was born in Brazil and also holds Italian citizenship.

The 1.88 m (6 ft 2 in) former footballer was born on August 28, 1982. After making a single appearance for Brazil in 2003, he switched allegiance to Italy, earning 30 caps and scoring once since his debut in 2011.

He represented Italy in the 2014 FIFA World Cup and two European Championships, finishing as a runner-up at Euro 2012. Following his retirement in 2018, he coached Paris Saint-Germain’s under-19 team

In October 2019, he was appointed manager of Genoa but was dismissed in December due to poor results.

In July 2021, Motta became the manager of Spezia, where he stayed for one season before taking over as Bologna’s manager in September 2022.
