Themba Gorimbo recently won his second fight against Takashi Soto at UFC Vegas 73, following which he posted a tweet. Gorimbo was sharing about how he had only $7.49 left in his bank account prior to the fight. He tweeted:
If it wasn’t for the free @ufc meals I started to receive after I signed the fight i would probably be singing a different story.”
Meanwhile, Johnson came across Gorimbo’s tweet and found it relatable since he himself started out with $7 in his pocket. In response to Gorimbo’s tweet, the ‘Fast & Furious’ star tweeted a reply saying he would help and support Gorimbo. He tweeted:

Straight after my loss, when I got home, everybody [looked at me] like a guy that was smelling like s**t,” he told MMA Mania’s Alex Behunin. “You know, people kind of ignored me. People that I helped kind of ignored me. A lot of people, even people that were close to me, some of them are called my friends… even my own brother”.
Despite the setback, Gorimbo refused to give up and started training in Kayalami, South Africa. His determination and training eventually worked out as he earned his biggest career victory on UFC 73’s UFC Fight Night. Gorimbo beat Takashi Soto at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas to become the first ever Zimbabwean to win a UFC fight.
