The Witcher fans can rejoice as game developers CD Projekt Red, announced the much-awaited release date for The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt next-gen upgrade
Hardcore Witcher fans might recall that the new free update was initially supposed to release back in 2021.

The next-gen update release saw various delays and also a change of developer from a Saber Interactive Nintendo Switch version of the game, to an in-house CD Projekt team.
The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update Release Date
CD Projekt Red confirmed that the release date for the Witcher 3 next-gen update will be next month, on December 14, 2022.
New Features
The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update will feature a host of new features. The new update will add ray tracing and other advanced graphical features for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Whereas, Windows PC players on the other hand will also receive a new patch offering similar graphical improvements. The new version of the game will also come with both of The Witcher 3’s expansion packs, the Hearts of Stone and the Blood and Wine.
Both these packs previously released a downloadable content, and also a new DLC pack inspired by The Witcher Netflix series. Developers will also add a physical edition “at a later date.”
Moreover, CD Projekt Red will further reveal fresh details about the update as the weeks come by. They have also planned to show the new gameplay, in a Twitch stream next week. However, the developers haven’t announced the stream date or time as of now.
Upcoming Plans For A New Installments
The new next-gen update comes as a part of CD Projekt’s ambitious plans to build more of future Witcher content. Recently, the studio announced that it has plans to release a trilogy of all-new Witcher games with six years in-between. It also announced plans to remake the first Witcher game and develop a multiplayer spinoff.
In other news, Netflix announced that it will produce a season four of ‘The Witcher’ series as well. However, it will unfortunately not feature Geralt, played by Henry Cavill. The third season of the series is currently in production.
