To Rugged Star, Pretty Boy

Momoa was a ‘beautiful boy’ with smooth features before he became the rugged, dashing Kahl Drogo in Game of Thrones or the merciless Aquaman lead. Fans of science fiction may recall the man with dreadlocks portraying the alien Ronon Dex in Stargate: Atlantis back in 2004. “I got called ‘beautiful boy’ my whole life,” the 42-year-old actor remarked of that period. It’s more along the lines of, ‘Good.’ It’s no longer my thing.”

Everything changed in 2008. With a new feature on his face, Momoa changed from a ‘beautiful boy’ to a rough and distinctive one.

He said he got into a brawl with a man called Dominic Bando during his interview. Bando may have utilised the altercation as part of a ‘gang initiation,’ according to Momoa. The brawl took occurred in Hollywood’s Bird Cafe. “It was insane,” Momoa said of the incident that resulted in the scar on his brow. ” A pint glass was broken in my face by a man. In my face, I had a little over 140 stitches.”

According to NBC Los Angeles, Bando, who was 21 years old at the time, sustained four injuries to his hand and required 15 stitches. Following that, Bando pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to five years in jail.

Scars Awarded Momoa The Parts

Even though getting stitches isn’t fun and that fight must’ve been a nightmare, Momoa went on to explain that it helped him shake his ‘beautiful boy’ reputation. That, and a hit to the face from a mutual friend.

Momoa thought the facial scar wasn’t rough enough with the appearance he was looking for as he was preparing for his role in Conan the Barbarian. He then requested that his friend punch him in the face, resulting in a broken nose.

“Damn it, my guy just did it straight immediately,” Momoa said.

“When it was done, I said to him, ‘Dude, didn’t you want to think about it for a minute?’ But, because we’re both guys, he said, ‘You don’t need to ask me again.’ ‘It’s done.’

Unlike the broken nose, Momoa’s face scar wasn’t intended, and he went on to star in Game of Thrones, Aquaman, Dune, and the upcoming Fast & Furious 10. So it appears that, despite the trauma of all that healing, Momoa’s situation was resolved in the end.
