The Scottish Open History, First Edition Results, And Level of Difficulty
The Genesis Scottish Open is a professional golf competition held in Scotland. It is one of five competitions that make up the Rolex Series, making it one of the most prestigious events on the European Tour. It has been played on a variety of courses, but more recently, a links course has been used, which appeals to golfers looking to practice before the Open, which is the following week.
The tournament has served as the final opportunity to earn a spot in The Open since 1987, along with the John Deere Classic. Since the Open Qualifying Series began in 2014, it has been a part of it. The top 3 players who haven’t qualified for the Open have been given a spot. Prior to 2014, there was typically an exemption category that allowed the top player or players to compete in the Open even though they were not yet qualified.
The prize pool for the Scottish Open was raised to $7 million when it joined the Rolex Series in 2017 (the year the series was launched). The competition was co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and title sponsored by Genesis starting in 2022.

The Scottish Open 2022 Venue, Golf Prize Money Purse, Winner’s Share, And Other Rewards
The newly co-sanctioned event between the PGA Tour and DP World Tour boasts an even bigger field this year. The Genesis Scottish Open typically draws a solid field given its slot on the calendar one week before the British Open. 14 of the top 15 players in the world are taking the tee due to the co-sanctioning, which allows PGA Tour players to collect FedEx Cup points and have another event count toward membership requirements. The Renaissance Club, where the competition is being held, is not a typical links course but is nonetheless regarded as a top warm-up for St. Andrews the following week.
The prize fund for the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open is expected to be $8 million, with the winner’s share coming in at $1,440,000, or the regular 18% payout in accordance with the PGA Tour’s prize money distribution system.
