The fantastic “Watching and Dreaming” episode of The Owl House from last week left viewers of the well-liked animated fantasy series with mixed feelings.

The season 3 finale was filled with action, introspection, and emotion, but it was also tinged with regret since, in the end, this was a conclusion that shouldn’t have aired for a number more years. Sadly, Dana Terrace, the show’s creator, said that season 3 episode 3 would serve as the series finale, thus fans should be aware that The Owl House wasn’t coming back for season 4 on Disney.

  • Annie Award for Best Character Design (Nominated)

Where There won’t be another season?

The coronavirus epidemic, which compelled Disney Animation Studios to close and personnel to begin working from home on season 2 by March 2020, appears to have been the root of the problems with The Owl House and a prospective fourth season.

After the cancellation was made public a year later, Terrace took to Reddit to provide upset fans an explanation for why The Owl House’s story had to end far sooner than anyone had anticipated.

The portrayal of LGBTQ+ people was the first subject Terrace addressed. This subject has generated debate online following Disney’s decision to discontinue the series. The good news is that Terrace said, “While we have had difficulty broadcasting in certain nations (and are just straight up banned in a few more), I’m not willing to presume that this is an act against the people I work with in LA.”

In closing her AMA, Terrace encouraged the audience, saying that “not only does it fund the crew, but it pushes studios to take bolder bets on series coming down the pipeline.” She said, “And, who knows? If DTV is run by different individuals, the Owl House universe might have a future. The positive news is that there has been a fan petition to have Disney (or any other potential network partner) produce The Owl House season 4, and it already has 13,159 signatures out of its 15,000 goal.
