The show is based on the Saxon-Vikings war era and the story behind united England. The show covers major political, military wars fought between the Saxons and Vikings. In previous seasons we saw Uthred-of Bebbanburg fighting with his destiny, and facing a dilemma whose side to support as born as Saxon and due to unfortunate events led and being raised as a Vikings.
His loyalty is being tested at tough times, were to support the king or his Dane allies who raised him. The story covers his struggle and contribution towards the unification of England. He deeply shares a connection with Alfred-the great, and at times supports the king when needed.
The story also covers Uthred’s own motive seeking revenge against his uncle who has annexed the kingdom (Bebbanburg) from him.
