Adah Sharma confronts the delay in the OTT release date of the movie The Kerala Story
She portrayed the title character in Sudipto Sen’s The Kerala Story, claiming that a successful box office is excellent for the entire industry and that no one should be upset about it.

Starring Adah Sharma, one of the highest-grossing films of 2023 so far is The Kerela Story. Many people were looking forward to its OTT debut amidst its two-month, successful theatrical run. But according to various media reports, the producers were unable to find a reliable streaming partner, which caused the digital premiere to be delayed.
Director Sudipto Sen responded to the reports by telling an internet portal that the success of the movie at the box office had angered many people and that the industry had united to punish them. He said, “No viable offer or workable contract has been made by any of the major OTT platforms.”
The Kerala Story made nearly Rs 230 crore at the box office in spite of its controversy. Its story focuses on the experiences of four college students who are forced to join ISIS and convert to Islam.
Adah Sharma Opens Up About The Kerala Story’s Delayed OTT Release
Adah explained that the delay in The Kerala Story’s OTT debut wasn’t intentional and wasn’t caused by a lack of OTT partners.
According to her, a movie could only be released on a digital platform after it had finished playing in theatres. Adah informed Republic Digital that after reading media reports about the producers having trouble securing an OTT partner, she called the producer (Vipul Shah), and that is when she spoke with him.
She said, “When I read the reports, I called Vipul (Shah) sir and asked what was going on. Then they explained everything to me. So, the truth is, you can’t have an OTT release until the movie is showing in theatres. We had the good fortune with our movie to still be playing in theatres two months later with sold-out performances.”

The actress reaffirmed that the movie will soon be available on streaming services, but she kept mum on the precise date of its debut and platform with nothing known as of now.
To put to rest rumours that the crew was having trouble locating an OTT partner, Adah stated that an announcement on the date and platform of the movie’s online premiere could be made “in a few days.”
She further said, “I believe Sudipto Sir was misquoted after speaking to someone. But as far as I’m aware, they informed me of the OTT platform. But I’m unable to share that information with you at this time. The announcement, in my opinion, will occur soon. I think the producers will only announce when everything is perfect to put out.”
