Despite only returning to the land of the company recently, John Cena is headed towards retirement from WWE

Back in WWE after being out for more than a year, John Cena saw himself paired next to Roman Reigns for the organisation’s biggest PPV of the year, SummerSlam 2021. The two sparred on a string of occasions prior to the showdown as WWE hyped the matchup as the headliner for SummerSlam.

While Cena managed to get the better of Reigns prior to the main event, he faltered when it mattered the most. A triumphant Reigns emerged victorious when the two locked heads in the ring to retain his WWE Universal Championship title.

However Cena being clobbered by Reigns’ third Superman Punch which was followed by a Spear wasn’t the only routing he had received on the night. As WWE went off air, Brock Lesnar who had entered the arena to challenge Reigns decided to have a go at Cena as he threw him around in typical fashion.

John Cena Alludes At Imminent Retirement From WWE Ensuing Defeat To Roman Reigns 

Proceeding the event, John Cena has now tweeted about how it was a pleasure to be back but he would be out from action yet again. While he went onto talk about how he would be seeing the WWE Universe again soon, his words, “The journey takes me away now,” hint at a potential retirement from the company altogether.

While it remains to be seen what the future holds for Cena in terms of professional wrestling, its unlikely we’ll be seeing him out in the middle any time soon. With a raft of movies at his disposal, Cena will be returning to Hollywood to finish working on them.
