England have anew captain in Ben Stokes after Joe Root’s time as captain came to an end in April 2022.
Competition preview
The Ashes is an annual Test cricket series played every year between England and Australia, two powerhouses in international cricket. In recent years, Australia have been the dominant team in the Ashes with England winning their last series, way back in 2015. In fact, if the Aussies win again this summer, they will grow closer to holding the Ashes for an entire decade by the time the 2025 series comes up.
As such, all the pressure is on England to reclaim the title this year. England captain Ben Stokes will be looking to repeat his performances from the World Cup in 2019 and last year’s T20 World Cup. However, head coach Brendon McCullum will be looking at not just Stokes, but the entire squad to regain the Ashes.
