Tournament Format, Rules, and Prize Money Pool
The tournament will be split into two brackets, each with eight players. The eight players in the field will battle in a knockout format. Any player who loses a match gets a second chance at the top thanks to the double elimination system.
The American Cup will be seeded by rating, with the first round pitting 1 versus 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, and 4 vs 5 players against each other. Players will compete in a two-game classic match, with rapid tiebreaks if necessary. The winners progress to the Championship Bracket, while the losers continue in the Elimination Bracket with rapid chess. Anyone who loses their Elimination Bracket match is automatically eliminated from the competition.
