The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) honours excellence in American sports television programming, including sports-related shows, live coverage of sporting events, and outstanding sports broadcasters, with the Sports Emmy Awards. The Emmy Awards are normally held on a Spring Monday night, sometime in the last two weeks of April or the first week of May, and present Emmys from the previous calendar year.

The award was back in 2022 with its 43rd edition at the Frederick P. Rose Hall on May 24th, 2022 announced by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The ceremony took place in person for the first time in three years

There were nominees that were announced from 47 different categories, for example, Outstanding Live Special, Live Series and Playoff Coverage, four Documentary categories, Esports Championship Coverage etc. The selected nominees were revealed a month before the winner’s announcement, on April 6 2022. The NFL 360 received the most nominees, as the only program to have revived this much recording to 12 while ESPN became the most nominated network counting to 40.
