Prediction

Duo Tereza Martincova/Marta Kostyuk and the pair of Tereza Mihalikova/Cristina Bucsa are set at ten doubles final of the Slovenia Open 2022.

Cristina Bucsa of Spain, and Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia defeated Alona Fomina and Ingrid Gamarra Martins in the semifinals of the Portoroz tournament by scores of 5-7, 6-3, and 10-6.

Ingrid got off to a strong start and immediately opened 2/0 in her second WTA semifinal as she attempted to advance to an unprecedented final at this level. She and the Russian pair, however, had to save three set-points in the tenth game after the opponents returned the break in the eighth game.

Following the break of Mihalikova and Bucsa, the Brazilian and the Russian served to end the opening set. In the second part, it was Mihalikova and Bucsa’s turn to take the lead by winning the opening three games of the match. Ingrid and Alena failed to take advantage of the six opportunities they had to win after being broken in one of the five break-points they gave up, and they lagged behind on the scoreboard until the end while watching the Spanish and Slovakian draw the match.

Then came the crucial match-tiebreak, in which the Russian and Brazilian got off to a terrible start and dropped the first seven points. Even though they responded and won the following five, the conflict then levelled off, with Mihalikova and Bucsa maintaining their lead until the very end.

Meanwhile their opponents who defeated Harriet Dart/Alexandra Panova with a score of 4-6, 6-2 and 10-6, Martincova and Kostyuk, broke them four times, had a 57% first serve success rate, made four double faults, and won 61% of the points on serve. As for Panova and Dart, they broke their opponents three times, had a 63% effectiveness, committed two double errors, and won 57% of the points on serve.

The pick of the match are Bucsa and Mihalikova and are expected to win today.
