Surya Kiran was born in 1972 to T. S. Mani and Radha in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was 5ft 7in tall. Surya attended RK Matriculation Higher Secondary School and then Presidency College in Chennai.

Kiran entered the world of cinema as a director with his first film, “Satyam,” in 2003. This romantic comedy, starring Sumanth and Genelia Deshmukh was a massive success by setting records by running in theatres for over 150 days.
Kiran directed films like “Brahmastram” in 2006, “Raju Bhai” in 2007, and “Chapter 6” in 2020 after making his feature film debut. He went on to direct several other Telugu-language films, showcasing his talent and creativity in storytelling.
In addition to his work in cinema, Surya Kiran also participated in the Telugu reality TV show Bigg Boss Telugu 4 as a contestant. Unfortunately, he was the first contestant to be eliminated but his brief stint on the show allowed audiences to see another side of his personality.
