Teddy Hart And CM Punk On And Off Ring Beef Explained

Teddy Hart And CM Punk On And Off Ring Beef Explained

Teddy Hart bad attitude made wrestlers in every promotion he worked for mad, and it led to a fight with CM Punk in the end

Teddy Hart was supposed to go far in the professional wrestling business at one point.

When he joined WWE at the age of 18 in 1998, he made history. He was from the famous Hart family, so people had high hopes for him. However, he was talented enough to go above and beyond those hopes.

Teddy Hart went from WWE to Ring of Honor to TNA. Hart was sent to train with Dory Funk Jr., but he was let go from the promotion a few years into his developmental contract because of his bad behaviour backstage. Hart joined ROH after his short time in WWE developmental.

Teddy Hart Watershed Moment Came When He Fought Against CM Punk!

He had some success there, but he never really got where he was supposed to be. He only stayed in ROH for a year and then went from one promotion to the next. No matter where he went, Hart made enemies and was hard to work with.

He got on Kurt Angle’s bad side. He was about to fight Samoa Joe. But CM Punk was involved in the most famous event. In 2004, Hart and Punk were both working for TNA. While in Nashville, the two wrestlers got into a fight outside of a cafe.

Hart’s short time in ROH is what made the two athletes dislike each other. Punk didn’t like how Hart was acting back then. It seems that Hart did things that weren’t in his plan, and Punk always called him out on it.

Teddy Hart And CM Punk Getting Into A Serious Fight

Over the years, we’ve heard different stories about this short fight, but when the news of it spread, Petey Williams was the first person to tell what he saw. Williams says that he and CM Punk were having a nice meal when Teddy Hart walked into the cafe and they started talking.

Hart and Punk agreed to settle their fight outside, and Williams remembers a quick exchange of punches before Punk fell and Hart landed on top of him. Then Sabu stepped in and stopped them from fighting, and that was the end of it.

The Hardcore Legend himself said that it was a short fight, and he didn’t say who won, which suggests that it was pretty much a tie. Sabu did say that while he was separating the two, Teddy Hart accidentally kicked him between the legs.

Sabu said that at the time, he was good friends with Hart, and he was trying to calm things down because he didn’t want either guy to be fired from TNA. After the fight, Teddy Hart was fired by the promotion, and CM Punk stopped making appearances. However, he denied that he was fired because of his fight with Hart.

A TNA agent named Bill Behrens told a different story about the fight. He said that the fight was over in 20 seconds and that Teddy Hart won. The third-generation wrestler took CM Punk to the ground and beat him badly until Sabu broke them up. He said that Sabu saved Punk because, from what he could see, Punk was going to get hurt.

Teddy Hart Says He Badly Beat CM Punk

Last but not least, Teddy Hart himself talked about the famous shootout in an interview. Hart said that the hatred went back to when he was in ROH, and he praised Punk for having the guts to talk to him about it. He said the fight was short, but it was a win for him the whole time.

Hart said that he knocked him down, beat him up, and talked trash to him. He said that Jack Evans, Petey Williams, and Sabu, who were also at the scene, would back up his claim.

Later On Becoming Good Friends

Hart said in the same interview that he didn’t know who CM Punk was or how talented he was back then. After the fight, Hart said that he and Punk became friends and that he respected Punk’s choice to fight in the UFC. Yes, this was when Punk was getting ready for his first fight in the UFC. Hart also said that he was willing to fight Punk in the UFC and that he could last two rounds with any UFC fighter on the roster.

Hart and Behrens say that it was a short fight in which neither man was able to beat the other. However, CM Punk has never said anything about what happened. The claim that Punk and Hart are friends now is more surprising. Not a chance in hell, sadly.
