Nodirbek Abdusattorov, 18, of Kazakhstan increased his lead at the Tata Steel Chess Masters after defeating Indian amateur Arjun Erigaisi in the seventh round, finishing the day with 5.5/7 points. Magnus Carlsen, Wesley So, and Pragg all won their individual games on Saturday to move up the rankings. However, Anish Giri and Fabiano Caruana dropped farther behind Abdusattorov after losing their respective matches and finished the day with 4.5/7 points each.
Following his comfortable victory against Richard Rapport, the reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen has returned to winning ways but is still two-point behind the leader with 3.5/7 score. In the highlight match of Saturday, Indian prodigy Pragg defeated Jorden van Foreest to finish the day at 4.5/7 and sit at second-place tied with Caruana, Anish Giri, & Wesley So. However, Gukesh’s bad form in the tournament continued as he succumbed to his fourth loss in seven games and stayed at the bottom place with 1.5/7 points.
