Ahead of his much-hyped Classical World Championship match in April, Ding Liren had the golden opportunity to prove his mettle by defeating the reigning champion Carlsen on Wednesday. However, neither of the players were able to convert their chances before both of them agreed on a draw. Taking advantage of numerous ties of Day-3, Tuesday’s sole winner Fabiano Caruana joined the leaders as the leaderboard turned to be a complicate situation with five players tied at 2/3 point total.

Except Fabiano Caruana vs Jorden van Foreest, all of the remaining six matches ended as draw with the standings remaining nearly the same from Monday. Indian fans were relieved as Gukesh ended his losing run after a hard-fought tie against Abdusattorov. However, Arjun Erigaisi will be disappointed with his performance on the day as the youngster struggled to contain Levon Aronian, who came within inches of victory.
