On Saturday, there was an unsettling trend on social media, particularly on the X, wherein several accounts were reposting and publishing purported screenshots from a video of Oviya, a Tamil actress, along with inappropriate hashtags.
Although Oviya hasn’t addressed the situation yet, the possible outcomes are concerning and could violate Oviya’s personal space and privacy. Many reports that this appears to be a video showing actress Oviya that appeared online a few hours ago have gone viral on social media.

Some users, on the other hand, suggested that users respect Oviyaa’s privacy and dignity and abstain from sharing untrusted content. The video was uploaded to the X platform by an account going by the handle “Rahulkantwari,” who is requesting that others share and retweet it.
Twitter/X was abuzz on Saturday with claims about a video purportedly showing actress Oviya in a compromising position and users have shared screenshot of the purported video, wherein a woman with a shoulder tattoo similar to Oviya’s can be seen. The authencity of the video is yet to be ascertained though.

Oviya’s career
When Oviya first started acting, she portrayed supporting roles in Malayalam movies. She was particularly involved in the films Kangaroo (2007), Puthiya Mukham (2009), which starred Prithviraj, and Apoorva (2008), which was a college drama.
After enrolling at Vimala College in Thrissur to get her BA in Functional English, Oviya was approached by director Sargunam for Kalavani (2010). Despite the producer’s doubts, Sarkunam cast her in the lead female role after finding an image of her online and was certain he had the right actor for the part.
She starred with Vimal in Kalavani, which went on to receive favorable reviews and turn into a sleeper hit at the box office. Oviya’s portrayal of a schoolgirl from a rural was parised by critics.
After 2014, Oviya’s acting career started to decline, and the majority of the beautiful roles that were offered to her were in low-budget movies. She starred opposite veteran actor Sarathkumar in the critically panned unsuccessful 2015 film Sandamarutham.

Her next two Tamil films, Hello Naan Pei Pesuren (2016), a horror comedy directed by Sundar C, and C. V. Kumar’s heist comedy 144 (2015), did not fare as well at the box office.
