The exciting season and adventure of Yeon during the time of the Japanese Occupation of Korea, when he encounters both old friends and new foes, came to a close with episode 12 of Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938. While this particular journey has come to an end, other adventures await our gumiho in the future. That’s the final episode of the season.
At the end of episode 12, Yeon gives Ryuhei Kato a fitting finish by defeating him in gumiho form. He must now go to the afterlife immigration office before Akira Saito and his men arrive to exact their vengeance on Kato.
Flashback
At that moment, Hong-joo showed up there and told him to get to Taluipa because she was in charge of the group. After a final hug and kiss, the two part ways hastily. When Japanese government police come, Yeon has already left the hotel and is getting into his car.
Moo-young comes to the rescue once again, this time when his friend is surrounded by a different bunch. In a flashback, we see the moment before Moo-young died, when Yeon’s request was granted when the symbol on his wrist glowed. Yeon is warned, but he still insists on doing what he believes is necessary to save his friend’s life.
When they return to the present, Moo-young asks Yeon why he took this decision, to which Yeon replies that there is no point in saving each other because they had made a vow to do so a long time ago. Yeon bids adieu and departs as their friendship is put back on track, while Moo-young moves aside to make room for his pal.
Wandering Doctor
Yeon and Shin-joo enter the afterlife immigration office unknowing that the original mountain god watches them silently. Rang, however, rushes to say goodbye to Yeon. Taluipa is relieved when Yeon arrives and instructs them to leave, but Yeon hesitates since he hasn’t said goodbye to Rang. Rang arrives and tells his brother how he protected his loved ones. He apologizes and offers him Yeon’s fortune string.
Yeon unlocks the door to return home after the two cries. Hong-joo and Moo-young wonder about their friend after Shin-joo goes. Hong-joo then asks Moo-young about his goal, and he tells her that he now wants to be a roaming doctor and become the person she wanted. Hong-joo misses Yeon and returns to Myeoyeonggak as he wants to return to her.
What About The Original Mountain God?
Episode 12 depicts the original mountain god as the major opponent. He holds Taluipa’s thousand-mile eyes. He last sees Yeon and Shin-joo outside the afterlife immigration office. We may assume he will soon cause turmoil.
In episode 11, Taluipa said the original mountain god’s power was divided into four treasures, including the golden ruler and guardian stone. She also noted that these riches don’t occur at the same age, so he’ll probably go through time to collect the other three. To learn more about Joseon and Yeon’s next adventure, we must wait for the show’s next season.
